The Gas Safe Register for Gas Installers
The Gas Safe Register replaced CORGI (Council of Registered Gas Installers) in Great Britain and the Isle of Man on 1 April 2009
There is only one gas safety register that clients need to look for. Look for the yellow Gas Safe Register triangle not the orange CORGI registration badge.
Anyone carrying out work on gas must be registered with Gas Safe Register. If not, they are breaking the law and putting customers at risk.
CORGI CCL Gas Safety Assurance
There exists an additional organisation known as CORGI Certification Ltd (CCL).
As a registered Gas installer Martin Dixon Limited is additionally certified in the CCL scheme. This is a strict UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) accredited management and monitoring standard that meets European (BS EN 45011) requirements, signifying high standards in the management of safe gas work.
The CCL gas scheme is complimentary to most quality schemes currently in use such as ISO 9000. On gaining certification in 2003 Martin Dixon was the first private company in Hull and one of only two in the East Yorkshire area to have attained this accreditation.
APHC Association of Plumbing and Heating
The Association of Plumbing and Heating Contractors (APHC)- is the leading Trade Association for the Plumbing and Heating Industry in England and Wales.
All members of the Association are reliable, established, businesses which employ fully trained staff and have a commitment to high levels of customer service. Each member undertakes an annual assessment to ensure they are meeting the strict business standards. Part of these standards is to hold and operate an approved Customer Complaints system.
NICEIC National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting
The NICEIC is the electrical contracting industry’s independent voluntary body for electrical installation matters throughout the UK. It controls industry-leading certification services, Building Regulations Schemes, products and support to electrical contractors and many other trades within the construction industry.
NICEIC registration not only demonstrates to customers and specifiers a companies skills and professionalism, it also gives them peace of mind that members products and services are the best in the industry.
REFCOM F-Gas Certification
The Refcom Register of Companies Competent to Handle Refrigerants was set up in 1994 in response to atmospheric damage caused by certain refrigerant gases.
Since then the Register has evolved to cover fluorinated refrigerant gases which if released to atmosphere have a global warming potential significantly higher than CO2.
In June 2009, Refcom Certification Ltd was appointed by the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to operate a Certification Body under the stationary equipment provisions of the Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases Regulations 2009 No 261.
As well as undertaking the certification role required by Defra and the Department of Environment, Refcom will continue to operate its long-standing voluntary company registration scheme which requires higher standards than those stipulated in the F gas Regulations.
